Most of us have been stuck at home this year but now that restrictions have been eased a little, we are ready to do some adventuring the safe way. Fall in Michigan is the perfect place to get outdoors and take in the sights of our beautiful state and city! Below is a list of our favorite activities and attractions that are open and operating this fall, we hope you get out and make the most of this beautiful fall weather.
Fall Colors

Of course, it’s not a fall activity list without mentioning the beautiful fall colors. Here in Michigan, we are lucky to see some of the most beautiful color changes around. Take a drive through the countryside on a self-guided fall tour or visit one of the many local parks to take in all the beautiful reds, yellows, and oranges. Walk the trails at Blandford Nature Center or Wittenbach/Wege Agriscience & Environment Education Center and see who can find the prettiest or biggest leaf.
Harvest & Craft

Fall is the perfect time of year to visit the local farmers market. Our local area is home to some of the best family apple orchards and the markets will be full of crisp, juicy apples. Not to mention all of the other bountiful produce from our local farmers. Take a day trip to one of the many local orchards and enjoy all the fall activities they offer from apple and pumpkin picking to hayrides. Some of our favorites include Robinette’s Apple Haus & Winery, Schwallier’s, and Moelker Orchards & Farm Market. You can also head downtown Grand Rapids and check out the local craft brews. We recommended checking out Craft Pass GR. Available September 14 through October 31, 2020, it provides you with an exclusive gift when you check into 4+ locations and a return visit coupon with each check-in.
GR Exclusives

Take in some events you can only find right here in Grand Rapids. Now through October 3, 2020, the city is hosting The Brigde GR a series of events celebrating Grand Rapids art, culture, community, and music. It’s meant to help bridge the gap between the past few months of our Covid-19 reality and our hopeful bright future. Events will be hosted throughout the downtown area in parks, parking lots, streets, and even bridges to help foster community and healing. These events are limited to only 100 attendees, so we suggest checking the list out ahead of time and getting signed up!
Grand Rapids is also home to some amazing outdoor spots. With Lake Michigan nearby and so many other outdoor spaces around us, GR is the perfect place for an afternoon outdoor escape. Check out one of the many lakes or rivers nearby for some fishing, kayaking, or paddle boarding. Hit the trails at one of our many parks or bike your way through our local bike trail system. Tee off at one of the dozens of golf courses in the surrounding area. No matter what your style is, Grand Rapids has something for you.

Fall is a wonderful time in our beautiful Grand Rapids and the staff here at Engelsma Homes cannot wait to get out and enjoy it with you! We wish you a safe and happy fall!
