The winter months are beautiful, but the cold can make staying home even harder. As at home activities begin to run low and the cold sets in, we all begin to look for inspiration for fun winter activities. Horse Drawn Scenic Tour
Take a scenic tour of downtown Grand Rapids with the Common Gentry Carriage Co. On Friday and Saturday nights you can take a magical tour through downtown Grand Rapids by horse drawn carriage. It’s the perfect way to take in the winter weather. Bring your significant other for date night, your family, or take a ride by yourself for some peaceful me time.
Cannonsburg
Visit the Cannonsburg Ski Area and enjoy all kinds of winter fun. Cannonsburg is the perfect place to hit the slopes with friends or bring the entire family. They have skiing, tubing, and dining all on site. Be sure to check out their social distancing guidelines before you head out. They offer everything from skiing and tubing to winter biking and lessons. You will love this winter wonderland!
World of Winter Festival
The World of Winter Festival takes place in downtown Grand Rapids from mid-January to late February. Events include walking tours, dances, ice sculptures, pop up performers, and more. There is always something happening at the World of Winter Festival!
Ice Skating at Rosa Parks Circle
Enjoy some traditional winter fun at Rosa Parks Circle and bring your family or friends ice skating. Reserve your spot ahead of time and skate your way to winter fun. Dress warm and enjoy one of the most time-honored winter activities.

Fredrick Meijer Gardens
This activity can be done both outdoors and indoors. If you’re looking to bring together the best of both worlds, this is the place for you! Check out the indoor exhibits for a bit of warmth in the winter. Head outdoors and adventure through the sculpture park for a crisp winter hike. There is something for everyone at the gardens!
Grand Rapids Public Museum
Stay in and learn at the Grand Rapids Public Museum. With fun new exhibits and local history there is always something to learn at the museum. Right now, they are featuring Wild Connections, an exhibit made of Lego bricks, and Under the Artic: Digging into the Permafrost. There is so much to see and learn! You can go to the Public Museum and more with the Culture Pass. The Culture Pass is a 3-day pass that gets you in to a variety of Grand Rapids attractions for one great price!
Virtual Events
Sometimes getting out of the house just isn’t an option. Several wonderful organizations in the area offer great virtual resources that let you experience all the fun at home. The Grand Rapids Public Museum offers digital exhibits to view from home. Take in a night of music with the Grand Rapids Symphony. Enjoy the stylings of Marcelo Plays and Conducts from the comfort of your own home. You can also view other great virtual exhibits at the Gerald R. Ford Museum.
